Un-style text

Paste styled text to get the original plain text back.

The un-styler runs the generator backwards. It first removes combining marks (strikethrough, underline, slash), then converts every decorative character back to its original letter, fullwidth characters included. Anything it does not recognise is left untouched — nothing is dropped at random.

When to use it

  • Recover text copied from a styled bio so you can reuse it elsewhere.
  • Clean up a résumé, a form or a document where decorative characters cause trouble.
  • Make text audible to a screen reader, which stumbles on Unicode alphabets.
  • Check what a search engine actually reads in a styled heading.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get the original text back exactly?
For every style this site produces, yes: each decorative character has a known mapping back to its Latin letter. A character from elsewhere with no equivalent is kept as-is rather than replaced by a guess.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, in JavaScript. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored.
Why un-style instead of retyping?
Because styled text looks similar but is not written the same way: these are distinct Unicode characters. A search, a spell checker or a form does not recognise them as ordinary letters, even though they look like them.
